Updating project repository post deadline

Hi, I want to keep working on the app, to enhance it further, add extra features, write test cases and do more regression testing, clean up the old code etc. As such I need to update to the github repo with the changes that I'm making. Am I allowed to continue working on the same repo which I've submitted, or should I create a new repo for this project and work on the new repo?

Please advise, thank you!
